War, the destruction of mankind
Weapons that didn’t kill but only blind.

Man against man.
Surviving anyway they can.

Those lost souls fighting in the ground
One life, one round.

What a waste of so many lives.
So many man leaving their wives.

Children left fatherless
So many left brother less.

What was so many lives given away
Thousands taken day by day

Four years of fighting in terrible conditions
Thousands sent on suicidal missions.

Families ruined and devastated.
War? No glory. Its over rated.

Millions died in just four years
Leaving women and children to shed their tears.

So many left face down in the mud with no grave.
War is not how to prove your brave.

For king and country?
Can you trade a life for money?

Remember those that gave their lives for what you have today.
The scars on the land will never go away.

The boys can’t come back home.
Sat in foreign fields their spirits free to roam.

I’ll wear my poppy with pride,
The pains something I wont hide.

Why should I shame myself for caring for the lives of millions that gave me what I have now?
I’ll support them and ease the pain if I can some how.

But I’ll spend my time and remember the forgotten.
The lives they gave, I wont forget where I’m from.

Once proud to be called British and salute the flag.
No war is fought just to brag.

But that doesn’t mean I support the wars.
Just as a means doesn’t justify the cause

But ill support the troops and hope they return safe
I just hope they come home before its too late.

We’ve survived two world wars before.
It does not mean we can survive anymore.

Hasn’t enough blood been shed, or enough lives lost?
But I’ll remember, each time I feel the frost.

Of the forgotten and the dead.
They live on, in heart and head.
